by Feng Mengbo
Fri 16 May - Fri 20 June 03
10:00 am - 5:30 pm
Mon - Fri

Feng Mengbo's artwork Q4U, a modification of the computer game Quake 3, utilises a broadband internet connection to create a live link between audiences in Huddersfield, Manchester and worldwide. This unique live collaboration between The Media Centre, Huddersfield, and Cornerhouse, Manchester, is the first ever UK showing of this work.

In Q4U the characters of Quake 3 are replaced with a single 'bot' modelled on the artist; each player joining the game is forced to play as a multiple of this character, with the result that the game becomes a fight between several identical representations of Feng Mengbo complete with naked torso, US army pants and MiniDV Camcorde

This exhibition is part of Lab3D, a unique exhibition of installed 3D virtual environments by international artists, curated by Kathy Rae Huffman of Cornerhouse, Manchester.

Presented in association with Visiting Arts.
